Streaming a big success : some numbers

No enthusiastic music lovers in the Competition venues this year, but in addition to the jury members and the Competition team, a big crew from both the VRT and the RTBF more than ever motivated to bring the performances to our audience's homes.

And that the audience was on post, loyal as ever, speaks from the way in which it found their way to the live streams and videos on our own website, thanks to Proximus, and on and Auvio.

Piano 2021 was good for 40 hours of music that could delight music lovers in no less than 148 different countries. The numbers are impressive :
  • The new website received no less than 2 million page views throughout the month of May.
  • The multimedia, mainly videos but also audio and photos, were viewed and listened to a total of 360,000 times in May only. The numbers were even for the three rounds, with a slight peak in the semi-final. The live stream of the first round, new this year, provided a wonderful run-up to the broadcasting of the other rounds.
  • The performances of the final and the laureates' concerts could count on 50,000 live views on our website. During the final, thanks to the VRT, we were able to offer a live stream with a focus only on the hands of the pianists, good for almost 5,000 views.
  • More than 15,000 surfers followed the final on All episodes together were viewed 60,000 times.
