Born and raised in Wenatchee, Washington, Elizabeth Zharoff earned her bachelor’s degree in vocal performance from Oberlin Conservatory in 2009 and her master’s degree in opera at The Curtis Institute of Music in 2012.

She was a member of the Junges Ensemble at the Semperoper Dresden in the 2012 - 2013 season where she debuted two roles: Pamina in Die Zauberflöte and Violetta in La Traviata, as well as productions of Hänsel und Gretel, Don Carlo, and Der Rosenkavalier. She also returned to Opera Philadelphia as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte to great acclaim.

Recently, she debuted with Opera Company of Philadelphia as Konstanze in Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail in the same production which took her to Treviso, Italy the previous season. At Curtis Opera Theater, she was heard as Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust and sang the world premiere of a new chamber piece written for her by Richard Danielpour. Her most recent roles include the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen, Amina in La sonnambula, Cleopatra in Barber’s Antony and Cleopatra and Anne Trulove in The Rake’s Progress with Curtis Opera Theater. She has also performed Drusilla in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea with Oberlin Opera Theater and Anna Maurrant in Weill’s Street Scene.

On the concert stage, Elizabeth Zharoff has appeared with the Cleveland Orchestra, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis & the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, Lake Chelan Bach Festival, Van Cliburn Foundation and made her Carnegie Hall debut in January 2009, as a featured soloist in the Barry Alexander International Vocal Competition Winners’ Recital. The soprano was a semi-finalist in the 2009 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions and has won numerous competitions, including the Palm Beach Opera competition, Akron Tuesday Musical Association Voice Competition, and the Harold Haugh Light Opera Vocal Competition.

In the 2013 - 2014 season, she makes her Opéra National de Bordeaux debut as Giunia in Mozart’s Lucio Silla. She also returns to the Semperoper Dresden and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte. Future seasons will see her at Opera Philadelphia, Semperoper Dresden, Opera Theatre of St. Louis and English National Opera.
