Leland Ko behaalde een bachelor in Duitse literatuur aan Princeton University, een master muziek aan The Juilliard School en een Artist Diploma aan het New England Conservatory. Hij won de Eerste Prijs op het Concours Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal, de Concert Artists Guild Louis and Susan Meisel Competition en de Walter W. Naumburg International Cello Competition. Hij trad op in talrijke concertzalen in de Verenigde Staten en daarbuiten, waaronder Carnegie Hall en het Maison symphonique de Montréal. Recent trad hij op voor organisaties als de Foundation for Chinese Performing Arts en Pro Musica San Miguel de Allende, en in de Weill Recital Hall van de Carnegie Hall. Als kamermusicus trad hij op in het Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts, Palm Beach State College en de Merkin Hall van het Kaufman Center. Hij is cellist bij het Trio Rai, het OAK Trio en het Phaidros Quartet.
