Tae-Yeon Kim, die opgroeide in een muzikale familie, studeert sinds 2022 aan het Curtis Institute of Music bij Gary Hoffman en Peter Wiley, met steun van de Jacqueline du Pré Memorial Fellowship. Ze behaalde diverse internationale prijzen, waaronder de Eerste Prijs op de Lutos³awskiwedstrijd in 2024, de Franz Helmersonprijs van het Kronberg Academy Cello Festival, de B. Martinùprijs van de Prague Spring Competition, de Eerste Prijs op de Antonio Janigrowedstrijd en zowel de Eerste Prijs als de prijs van de dirigent op het Gustav Mahler-celloconcours. Op twaalfjarige leeftijd gaf ze haar recitaldebuut in het Kumho Arts Center in Seoul. Sindsdien trad ze wereldwijd op als soliste met orkesten als het Brevard Festival Orchestra, de Warsaw Philharmonic, het Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra, het Saint Petersburg City Orchestra en het KT Chamber Orchestra.
