Brannon Cho studeerde bij Hans Jensen, Frans Helmerson, Clive Greensmith, Wei Yu en Ralph Kirshbaum in beroemde conservatoria zoals het Heifetz Institute of Music, de Menuhin Festival Gstaad Academy, de Verbier Festival Academy en de Kronberg Academy Chamber Music Connects the World. Hij onderscheidde zich in verschillende wedstrijden : zo behaalde hij in 2015 de Tweede Prijs in de Naumburg International Cello Competition, in 2013 de Derde Prijs in de Internationale Muziekwedstrijd Gaspar Cassado, in 2012 de Grote Prijs in de ASTA National Solo Competition en in hetzelfde jaar de Eerste Prijs in de Johansen International Cello Competition. Hij werkte al samen met musici als Joshua Bell, Gidon Kremer en Christian Tetzlaff. Brannon Cho debuteerde in 2015 in de Carnegie Hall in New York en trad ondermeer op in New York, Miami, Washington, Chicago, Londen en Tokio.
