VIOOL 2019 : Laureaat
De in Seoul geboren Ji Won Song begon haar muzikale opleiding bij Nam-Yun Kim en Bon-Jiu Koo aan de Korea National University of Arts. Ze vervolgde die aan het Cleveland Institute of Music, het Curtis Institute of Music, het New England Conservatory en de Juilliard School, bij David Cerone, Ida Kavafian, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Victor Danchenko, Donald Weilerstein en Soovin Kim. Ji Won Song trad onder meer op met het Philadelphia Orchestra, het Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra en het Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, onder leiding van dirigenten als Rossen Milanov, Augustin Dumay en Nanse Gum. Ze behaalde prijzen bij talrijke wedstrijden : Isang Yun Competition in Korea, International Violin Competition Leopold Mozart in Augsburg, China International Violin Competition in Qingdao, Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition, Schadt String Competition en Concours Tibor Varga in Sion. Aan het Curtis Institute ontving ze ook de Milka Violin Artist Prize.
